What is Colitis?
Colitis-an inflammation of the inner walls of the colon, is not necessarily caused because of certain foods; however, there are some triggers like gluten rich foods, high fiber foods & spicy foods that can flare the symptoms. There is no single diet that can help every Colitis patient. The key is to find what works for you.
COLITIS DIET RECOMMENDATIONS
Diet for Ulcerative Colitis
Although there is no specific diet for Colitis, there are some general guidelines that can help keep the symptoms at bay.
We are providing the necessary food recommendations that can help for Colitis.
A diet of small, frequent meals of soft cooked or steamed vegetables, rice, porridge, well-ripened fruits like banana and papaya, yoghurt, and home-made cottage cheese.
Foods for Moderate Consumption:
Sprouted seeds and grains, whole wheat bread, and raw vegetables may be added gradually to this diet. All food must be eaten slowly and chewed thoroughly.
Foods to Avoid:
Avoid citrus juices, white sugar, white bread, and white flour products, highly seasoned foods, highly salted foods, strong tea, coffee, and alcoholic beverages, and foods cooked in aluminum pans.
Freshly prepared pomegranate juice is excellent for soothing the colon and balancing the immune system.
