Diagnosis of Osteoporosis

  • It is usually diagnosed while you get your routine examination done. Also, be diagnosed when you undergo certain tests following pathologic fracture due to weakening of bone.
  • Bone mineral density (BMD) test.
  • Densitometry or DEXA scan is the most determining test for osteoporosis. 
  • X-ray may show generalized loss of bone density.

Recommended Foods:

  • Calcium and Magnesium are quite vital information of the bones and optimum strength.   • Vitamin C rich foods like grapefruits, oranges, red peppers, green peppers, broccoli, strawberries, brussels sprouts, papaya and pineapples.

Foods to Avoid:

  • It is best to avoid tea, coffee, caffeine, refined sugars and alcohol.
  • Excess of oil and salty foods may also decrease the calcium in the body, especially for the elderly, so you need to avoid fried and processed foods.
