Limiting the intake of spicy and oily foodstuffs; and including foods like yoghurt and ginger help improve digestion and relieve nausea, vomiting, motion sickness, morning sickness, gas, loss of appetite, and colic.

Factors influencing Digestion
Ideally your body should be able to digest whatever food you put in. However, your stomach does not digest everything you eat as there are various factors influencing the process of metabolism. These factors include the changes in food type, preparation, lifestyle, age, overall health status, activity level, climate you live in, body weight, whether you are currently on prescription medicines, etc. It is best to avoid fried and fatty foods, alcohol and caffeine as they can potentially upset the stomach. Thankfully, Mother Nature has provided foods that help ease digestion.

- It is advised to eat plenty of vegetables; Food should be in small portions. Preferably consume bitter and pungent vegetables such as bitter gourd, fenugreek, sprouts, radish leaf, bottle gourd, squash, asparagus, carrot and green beans. We recommend steam-cooking vegetables, rather than eating them raw, to improve digestion.
- Include yoghurt, fish, whole grains, bananas, and ginger
Foods for Moderate Consumption:
Avoid or minimize nightshades such as potatoes, tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, berries and other berries which may clog the micro channels of the body.
Foods to Avoid:
- Avoid cold food, sweets and food heavy to digest as these are known create more internal toxins. Fruit juices and very sweet fruits such as grapes should also be avoided.
- Avoid leftovers or Frozen or preserved food as they are harder to digest than fresh foods
- Avoid caffeine, nicotine, alcohol and carbonated beverages.
- Avoid processed and junk foods and refined flours.
- Avoid breads, biscuits and pastas, aged cheeses, mushrooms and peanuts.
- Avoid fermented foods such as vinegar and products that contain fermented foods as ingredients
- Avoid high fat, spicy & fried food, dairy, alcohol, coffee, tea, and soft drinks.
- Lemon Grass is useful in strengthening the functions of the stomach and promoting its action. It is beneficial in the treatment of indigestion. Lemon grass oil also helps in spasmodic affections of the bowels, gastric irritability and pain.
- Fennel seed is a well known carminative and digestive aid. It can be safely administered in small quantities to help young children digest carbohydrates. An infusion prepared by boiling a tablespoon of fennel seeds in 100ml of water for half an hour, is highly beneficial in indigestion, biliousness, flatulence, constipation and atonic dyspepsia.
