What is Candida
Candida is the term used to describe candidiasis, a yeast overgrowth condition that was first recognized by American doctors in the 1970s. Candida yeast is found in the digestive tract of nearly all people and does not usually cause any issues. Candida is an “opportunistic pathogen” and will strike when given the chance. It will start to dominate the gut if the conditions are right.
Candida Symptoms
Candida symptoms are varied and include sore throats, toenail fungus (fungus of the nails), fatigue, nausea, stomach pains, bloating, and indigestion. Causes and Effects of Candida
A person who takes antibiotics is more likely to develop Candida. The bacteria that are normally dominant in the gut microflora produce lactic acid. This acidifies the intestinal tract. Yeast does not thrive in acidic environments. The antibiotics kill the healthy bacteria, and yeast has an ideal pH and atmosphere for growth. This results in a rapid growth of Candida and the yeast begins to dominate the microflora within the digestive tract.

What is the appearance of Candida in Stool
Candida may cause white patches and white strands. In your stool, look for the long hyphal germ tube of the yeast. If you have a severe case, you may see white cords which indicate that there is a lot of yeast in your gut. This white material may also be mucous. Get your stool checked for a diagnosis.
Conventional Treatment of Candida
Only a few antifungal medications are effective in treating Candida. The majority of antifungal drugs are chemicals known to lower immunity and even worsen the infection.
