Causes

The most common cause of Tendonitis is injury to the tendons, either by direct trauma or due to overuse while playing or exercising.

The pain is usually due to a tear in the tendon sheath.

The incidence of Tendonitis increases with age, as muscles and tendons start losing their elasticity.

The risk of developing Tendonitis is high if there is excessive and repetitive movement of any muscle of the body. This is especially the case with sportsmen. People who actively play sports like baseball, golf and tennis are more prone to developing Tendonitis in the shoulders, elbows and arms.
