Stages of Menopause

Medically, Menopause means the cessation of the menstrual cycle. But this is not a sudden process. It is gradual. The entire transition process can be divided into three main stages. They are:

Pre-menopause phase - This phase marks the onset of menopause with irregular periods. These irregular periods may continue for a few months or years before they completely stop. This varies from one woman to another. Some women may begin menopause at 55 years, while some may begin as early as 35. However, menopause usually occurs between the ages of 45 and 50. Estrogen and progesterone are two hormones produced by the ovaries, which regulate the changes that occur with each stage of the menstrual cycle, and prepares the uterus for pregnancy.
