Causes

Laryngitis is usually caused due to a viral infection. Acute laryngitis, in most cases, is either a complication of coryza, or part of some infectious fevers such as influenza or measles. A frequent predisposing factor is chronic infection of the paranasal sinuses. Ill-ventilated, overheated rooms and nasal obstruction are other predisposing factors.

Reflux of stomach acid into the esophagus and throat could also irritate the larynx and cause inflammation.

Signs and Symptoms
