Causes

The most common fungi causing Athlete's Foot are Trichophyton rubrum and T. Mentagrophytes. These organisms infect the superficial layers of the skin. In response to this, the skin produces more skin cells than usual. As these cells push to the surface, skin becomes thick and scaly. These fungi thrive in warm, moist areas. Predisposing factors for the spread of this infection include:
